KTI Leads the Field with 4 Honors at ASID’s 2014 Crystal Awards

At the sixteenth annual Crystal Awards presented by the American Society of Designers (ASID) Colorado, interior design firm KTI was honored for their commercial, hospitality, and residential work, taking home four out of the fourteen awards given, the most of any firm.

KTI was recognized in a range of categories: Best Hospitality, Best Commercial Custom Design Element, Best Residence Under 4,000 Square Feet, and Best Residential Temporary Installation. The most lauded project of the evening was KTI’s Best Hospitality winner, Guard and Grace, designed for chef-owner Troy Guard and TAG Restaurant Group. Described as a “modern steakhouse,” it features an open layout with rich pops of color and unexpected details, including bold red “steer art” on the focal wall, classic rock-and-roll art tiles in the men’s restroom, a rope wall, and a hopscotch run outside of the private dining rooms. The Guard and Grace hostess station, which won Best Custom Design Element, features an inviting juxtaposition of natural wood, lotus flowers, and metal that sets the mood for the whole restaurant.

Berardi 001For the Berardi Residence, winner of Best Residence Under 4,000 Square Feet, the KTI team used neutral tones and bold patterns to complement the architectural details, creating an inviting space for the owners, a newly married couple. Staying within budget is always a challenge, but KTI’s buying power kept the project under cost while filling the home with timeless pieces of furniture.

For the model home that won Best Residential Temporary Installation, KTI’s goal was for the space to stand out without being flashy. To accomplish this, KTI integrated exterior design elements into the interior and used accent paints and unique design elements to serve as “memory points” for potential buyers.

Kimberly Timmons-Beutner, founder of KTI, was thrilled with the wins. “As an interior designer, the ASID community is incredibly important to me. It’s both an honor and a validation to be recognized in this way at the Crystal Awards,” she said.
