January 12, 2011 – Orlando, FL – At The Nationals, hosted by the NAHB National Sales and Marketing Council, Kimberly Timmons Interiors was awarded a Silver Award for the Best Clubhouse for their Robson Communities, La Hacienda Club in Oracle, Arizona. We partnered with SHJ Studio architects on the design of this project.
The overall design of the clubhouse was based on the design philosophy of “modern in the spirit of tradition” by paying homage to the rich history and unique landscape of the Arizona territory, but designed in a fresh and unique style. The intent was to create a timeless design that would also feel current, but not trendy. We achieved this by creating a rare balance between function, comfort, luxury and sophistication. We challenged ourselves to move past the concept of “Clubhouse” and embrace the philosophy of “Resort Living”. The 36,000 square foot facility has a variety of amenities to enjoy, from the spacious lounge where residents gather to relax, meet with friends, enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail or catch the big game on the six big screen TV’s, to the state of the art workout facility, aerobics room, tennis courts and resort style pool. There is also a Bistro that functions as a gathering place for this growing community to enjoy an evening of wine tasting and small plates, to a light breakfast after a morning swim or enjoy a cold beer after a round of golf. The corridors adjacent to the Bistro host the billiards, arts & crafts and multi-purpose rooms. There is also a very unique space called the “Espiritu de Vida” or Spirit of Life room. The entire room is dedicated to the function of mind, body and spirit where you can participate in Tai Chi, yoga or meditation. From here you transition into the circular day spa lobby with its dramatic vaulted ceiling. In addition to providing day spa services in the treatment rooms, there is a full service salon, a barber shop, and a soothing lounge to relax in while waiting for a massage or facial.
Though this building has many functions, they flow seamlessly from one to another. Each room is uniquely designed to its special function, but relates to and references the many other spaces in the building by maintaining a consistency in materials, color palette, furnishings and signage. With the creative use of ceiling details, lighting and design we have provided a human scale and level of comfort to the large volumes within the Club. There is layering of details that combine to create an end result of a warm, comfortable environment.
Word of mouth is bringing new visitors and guests to this wonderful community and the La Hacienda Club is the pinnacle of this active adult community.
