6 Quick Tips to Decorating Like a Pro this Holiday Season

Tip 1: Ornaments aren’t just for the tree

My favorite DIY project that I have done for Christmas decorating has been an Ornament Garland. This is not only a fun way to bring some texture and color into your house during the holidays, but it also is a way to do so on a budget. All you need is some thick string or flexible wire and a big box or ornaments. I got mine in bulk on Amazon.  Feel free to mix colors, shapes and finishes for a fun festive feel; or go with a more monochromatic scheme for a classic look.

Tip2: Beautiful Burlap

The sophisticated use of burlap is a must for that homey country Christmas feel! From handmade ornaments to adding a flair to your gift wrapping, burlap is versatile and the perfect addition for that vintage detail.

Tip 3: Re-think Wrapping

Step away from the traditional style of wrapping this year and add a crafty, personal touch to create wrapped gifts with a three dimensional, rustic-luxe flair. Use inexpensive or re-purposed materials/objects such as Kraft paper, twine, burlap, old pine branches, pine cones, fresh greenery, feathers, or left over fabric; and easily create your own wrapping paper and gifts tags with stamps or paint.

Tip 4: Unique Tree Skirts

Ditch your typical tree skirts for an instant upgrade with something more modern or playful using unexpected materials like sparkly sequins, cozy cable knits, faux fur, or even better, change it up and put your tree in a woven basket or galvanize bucket.

Tip 5: O’ Christmas Tree(s)

Decorating for small spaces- Ditch the typical big Christmas tree and go for 2 or 3 smaller pencil trees. It’s a great way to switch things up and can work well in smaller spaces that don’t have room for a giant tree as well as trying to decorate multiple areas of a large house.

Tip 6: Cozy Candles

Candles are essential in a beautiful holiday décor scheme. But if you don’t want to splurge on specialty designs, try adding Epsom salts to the base of your candle holders and jars for a festive and snowy look that will impress your guests and keep your home feeling merry and bright this holiday season.
