Denver Life Magazine Designer Showhouse – Part I

Denver Life Magazine Designer Showhouse Part 1 It’s ShowTime in Denver. Or, to be precise, Designer Showhouse Time. And this year, the team at Kimberly Timmons Interiors has the pleasure of participating in the annual fall tradition of Denver’s best home builders, architects and designers coming together for charity. The 2017 Denver Life Magazine Designer Showhouse renovation project, which officially commenced last week, is a collaborative effort between Denver Life Magazine, Caliber Construction, Alvarez Morris Architecture and 13 different interior designers. All of the participants are volunteering countless hours towards the project with a collective philanthropic goal of helping raise more than $35,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver. The Denver home being completely remodeled and presented this year to the public is a Tudor-style home located at 919 S. Columbine Street. The 4,605-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath residence, originally built in 1937, is situated in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood and will be available for public viewing Sept. 9-24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Daily price of admission is $20 and all of the event’s proceeds directly benefit Denver’s Habitat for Humanity. “You won’t want to miss this beautifully renovated home,” says Shawn Miller, publisher of Denver Life Magazine and CEO of Elevation Media Group. “Each year, our Designer Showhouse gives readers – and the public – an inside look at what’s new in home décor trends and design, and offers tons of inspiration.” Much like the three previous Designer Showhouse charitable events, each of the interior design teams were given rooms to reimagine and tasked with the assignment to create a unique space that not only reflects their...
KTI and Chef Troy Guard Collaborate on Guard and Grace

KTI and Chef Troy Guard Collaborate on Guard and Grace

A Modern Steakhouse that is a Feast for the Eyes Even in a city rich with steakhouses, Denver’s Guard and Grace stands out. Designed by KTI for chef-owner Troy Guard’s TAG Restaurant Group, and named for his daughter, this is most definitely NOT your father’s steakhouse. Working hand-in-hand with Chef Guard and his wife Nikki, KTI designed a modern steakhouse with an interior that is less overtly masculine, and is filled with natural light, clean lines, and a sense of vibrancy. It is elegant without being stiff; a welcoming place for energetic power lunches, cocktails, special occasions, and evening dining. KTI and TAG have collaborated on several restaurants, each one unique. Guard and Grace is their biggest collaboration to date, and features an open layout, inviting pops of rich color, and artfully combined textures that reflect the steakhouse’s fresh ingredients and innovative, yet approachable high-quality food. “Our goal was to interpret Troy’s vision of a modern progressive steakhouse with mountain and urban influences, all while incorporating Troy’s personality into the design,” said Kimberly Timmons-Beutner, the founder of KTI.  “He wanted this to be the best-looking restaurant in town, recognized for the design as well as the food. That was no easy feat when working with a chef as talented as Troy, but we were up for the challenge.” To create a space that matched the food, KTI started with the entry. Guests are brought into the restaurant along a curved wall of oxidized steel panels and a lush living wall, highlighted by hand-blown glass spheres hung at different heights. Once inside, they are met with a glassed-in wine cellar...
Grand Opening at Pradera Unveils the Ultimate Colorado Lifestyle

Grand Opening at Pradera Unveils the Ultimate Colorado Lifestyle

Pradera’s six European Collection plans are both artful and thoughtful, mixing classic European design details with modern floor plans that acknowledge the way we live today.  These homes evoke the ambiance of hillside estates half a world away with classic details like dramatic entry towers, private courtyards with handcrafted fireplaces, Old World stonework and outdoor rooms shaded by exposed tile roofs. Details like these inspired Kimberly Timmons as she outfitted Pradera’s two Dream Home models. She describes Bordeaux, a two-story, French-inspired home plan, as “understated elegance at its best”. The stone walls, rustic wood beams and iron railings don’t overwhelm, but just add distinguished, subtle character.” Accordingly, she prescribed a layering of natural textures like rustic-milled hickory floors, honed stones and woven rugs plus a light, fresh palette of mineral, turquoise and artichoke mixed with subdued hues of basil and khaki.  Top off this model, an over-the-top entertainer’s basement and covered back patio bring the views even closer, connecting to a spacious backyard with private putting green.  Take a look at the whole home by taking this online tour. An Italian-inspired model, the Umbria, shatters all expectations of ranch home living. Retreat to the expansive casita off the courtyard, perfect for an office, studio or guesthouse. Entertain friends around a crackling fire in the intimate, lower level men’s lounge. Or move the party to the huge back patio an infinity pool (black-bottomed to reflect the land and sky), a full outdoor kitchen and a jaw-dropping pool house whose glass, garage-like doors lift to reveal a chic poolside kitchen, bar, living space, oversized shower and sauna.  With the Umbria model,...
