Making a Difference with Every Dime

Making a Difference with Every Dime

Despite the near-constant churn of today’s “go-go-go” business climate, Kimberly Timmons Interiors (KTI) continues to look for ways to use design as a means of helping others. Today, we are pleased to announce completion of a new freshwater drinking well in the village of Anh Janh, located in the Siam Reap Providence of Cambodia. Through a charity called Together We Can Change the World, KTI’s donation has been transformed into a year-round supply of clean, sustainable drinking water for families who previously lacked a vital resource many of us take for granted. It’s a great feeling to know our relatively modest contribution will change many lives for years to come, and we want to spread awareness of the organization that made it all happen. Together We Can Change the World was founded in 2008 by Jana Stanfield and Scott Friedman, who had business relations throughout Southeast Asia. Today, the organization raises money to support non-governmental agencies working to help chronically poor villagers in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. In addition to its well-building program, Together We Can Change the World builds and operates privately funded schools; provides secure housing and supportive counseling services for at-risk pregnant women; and teaches home economics, ecological development practices, and other life skills among other initiatives. If this post is a bright spot in your day, we hope you will be inspired to share some brightness with others. Whether you donate to one of the many wonderful aid organizations in the US and internationally or take a more one-on-one approach to helping out, please remember that even small actions and simple...
Update on Yunling Mountain Golf Clubhouse

Update on Yunling Mountain Golf Clubhouse

Kimberly Timmons Interiors is happy to be continuing work on the Yunling Mountain Golf Clubhouse in Kunming, China. We are currently working on FF&E Specifications which will create a rich and sophisticated look to compliment the architectural style of the facility. In June of this year Kimberly Timmons and Carissa Thompson took a trip to China accompanied by team members; Kirk Mason of Mason Architecture and West Li of LLG International to present our designs and visit the site. After that the team took a 5 day tour through the Yunnan province to visit multiple furniture factories, vendors, antique stores and local markets. This was an eye-opening trip and we are happy to be able to share some stories of their travels. While in China, the design team was able to view the progress of the Clubhouse and tour the championship caliber 27-hole Golf Course designed by Reese Jones, Inc., for more information click here. Team from left to right: Lui Wei, Dave Goh, West Li, Kirk Mason, Kimberly Timmons & Carissa Thompson Constructed by local citizens, the 27 hole golf course was beautiful with its sloping terrain, overlooking the Yangzong Hia (the nearby lake). We got to drive the entire course in state of the art all-terrain golf carts, at one point scaling an un-finished trail to make it to the highest point of the course. It was fascinating to observe the building site and the methods of construction, which are quite different than what are seen in the US.   After visiting Kunming the team, Kimberly, Carissa and West traveled with an entourage of project consultants, to...

Update on KTI International Project: Yunling Mountain Golf Clubhouse in Kunming, China

US design firm Kimberly Timmons Interiors recently completed the construction documents for its first international project in China, the Yunling Mountain Golf Clubhouse. Principal Kimberly Timmons and Senior Designer/Project Lead Carissa Thompson are currently traveling to Kunming, China to present KTI’s designs. The nearly 44,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with championship-caliber 27-hole course designed by Rees Jones is situated on the outskirts of Kunming, known as the “City of Eternal Spring” for its mild, year-round temperatures. The fabulous colors of the natural environment provided us with the inspiration on which to base our color palette. The overall design of the interiors is that of casual elegance that is warm, inviting and comfortable giving a sense of delight and peacefulness. Every element of this high-end resort has been carefully designed with layers of details from the floor patterns to the dramatic ceilings, intricate screen designs and hand-painted tracery. The second phase of their journey will include traveling to various cities in search of furniture, art, accessories and unique elements that will pay tribute to China’s rich cultural heritage that will make this destination resort clubhouse truly special. We hope this esteemed Kunming project will be the first of many international projects to...

Colorado Firm Designs the Yunling Mountain Golf Clubhouse in Kunming, China

US design firm Kimberly Timmons Interiors is in the process of completing the design of its first project in China, the Yunling Golf Resort. Located in the interior of southwest China in Yunnan Province, the nearly 44,000 sq. ft. Clubhouse with championship caliber 27-hole course designed by Rees Jones is situated on the outskirts of Kunming, known as the “City of Eternal Spring” for its mild year-round temperatures despite its location of nearly 7,000 feet above sea level. The first 18 holes are slated for a soft opening summer of 2011. KTI has teamed up with the very talented Kirk Mason of Mason Architecture & Design.  “It’s always a pleasure to work on a clubhouse designed by Kirk. He makes our job easier by giving us a wonderful foundation in which to layer details.” said Kimberly Timmons. Rounding off this design team is LLG International who has put their magic touches on the master planning and landscaping for this very prestigious project. The clubhouse is the first building in this upscale master planned resort. The facility will operate as a private members club with resort guest access. The resort will also include a destination spa and fitness center, two hotels and privately-owned villas. Beautiful walkways and water features will link these amenities together. Yunling Mountain Reception We began the journey of discovery for the interior character of the clubhouse by looking to the Yunnan Province for our inspiration. The awe-inspiring beauty of this region gave us a multitude of ideas to draw from. Kimberly traveled with the design team in August to the site and experienced firsthand the breathtaking...
