Denver Life Magazine Designer Showhouse – Part I

Denver Life Magazine Designer Showhouse – Part I

Denver Life Magazine Designer Showhouse Part 1 It’s ShowTime in Denver. Or, to be precise, Designer Showhouse Time. And this year, the team at Kimberly Timmons Interiors has the pleasure of participating in the annual fall tradition of Denver’s best home builders, architects and designers coming together for charity. The 2017 Denver Life Magazine Designer Showhouse renovation project, which officially commenced last week, is a collaborative effort between Denver Life Magazine, Caliber Construction, Alvarez Morris Architecture and 13 different interior designers. All of the participants are volunteering countless hours towards the project with a collective philanthropic goal of helping raise more than $35,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver. The Denver home being completely remodeled and presented this year to the public is a Tudor-style home located at 919 S. Columbine Street. The 4,605-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath residence, originally built in 1937, is situated in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood and will be available for public viewing Sept. 9-24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Daily price of admission is $20 and all of the event’s proceeds directly benefit Denver’s Habitat for Humanity. “You won’t want to miss this beautifully renovated home,” says Shawn Miller, publisher of Denver Life Magazine and CEO of Elevation Media Group. “Each year, our Designer Showhouse gives readers – and the public – an inside look at what’s new in home décor trends and design, and offers tons of inspiration.” Much like the three previous Designer Showhouse charitable events, each of the interior design teams were given rooms to reimagine and tasked with the assignment to create a unique space that not only reflects their...
The Value of Recognition

The Value of Recognition

Being recognized for our work is always a thrill for the team at Kimberly Timmons Interiors and not just because we like to win, who doesn’t. The value of recognition is in sharing success with the client and builders, the designers, the sales teams, and product suppliers and manufacturers who were all an important part of the process. It is in high-fiving the home team when we get back to the office and saying “Good Job!” to the newest person involved so they understand why we set our expectations so high. The value of recognition is that each award is a bright luminary along the path we take, indicating we’re headed in the right direction. At the 2017 International Builders’ Show in January, KTI was honored with a series of prestigious recognitions that we celebrate with special pride. This will help ensure that the next set of great projects we take on receives the utmost care and attention, as the following wonderful winners did. The Happy Canyon Residence, an unforgettable resort home in Colorado, won a Platinum Award for Outdoor Room and a Silver Award for Specialty Room at the BALAs, along with a Silver Award for Best Interior Design of a Custom Home at The Nationals. The home features an expansive grand hall with soaring 38-foot ceilings with carefully crafted, authentic detailing and furnishings that extend onto the expansive outdoor living spaces, making it a truly memorable estate.    Taylor Morrison’s Terrain 4022 was also recognized at the Nationals with a Silver Award for Best Interior Merchandising of a Model 2,500 to 3,000 sf. This Mountain Contemporary design combines...

Smiling at Success The 2016 Denver MAME Awards

With so many friends, colleagues, and contemporaries in attendance at the Marketing and Merchandising Excellence (MAME) Awards on Saturday Oct. 1st it was a great evening. Presented by the Sales & Marketing Council and HBA of Metro Denver, the event honors the highest standard of excellence in Denver’s homebuilding industry. Kimberly Timmons Interiors was thrilled to be involved with many different projects represented at this year’s awards and truly appreciates the confidence and commitment our clients have shown in our firm and our work. Success in residential development is about teamwork and the Denver MAME Awards recognize the different roles involved from design and construction to sales, marketing and management. While we did come to win, and certainly win we did, we’re also invigorated by the day-to- day reality of working with clients to understand each opportunity and then digging ever deeper to find compelling solutions. That’s where the trust is established and earned and being recognized by the industry is really just the icing on the cake. We all love frosting though, so let’s celebrate our 2016 Denver MAME winners while the moment is fresh. Our work with Century Communities and Godden/Sudik Architects, Inc. resulted in a resounding victory for one plan in particular. Marvella Plan 5020 won big all night, receiving awards in three separate categories. First it was selected as the Best Interior Merchandising of a Model – Detached Home – over 3,601 square feet. KTI’s design previewed a lifestyle of well-traveled affluence presented in earthy materials and colors. It was then selected for the prestigious Detached Home of the Year award, which takes the cumulative points awarded in both the interior design and product categories and adds the judges’ independent evaluations gained...

Shining Brightly at the 2016 Denver MAME Awards

Awards season always puts a special shine on our work and this week the light feels as bright as it ever has at KTI. Our team is honored to be a finalist for a total 17 different projects at the 2016 Denver MAME Awards, which will be held October 1st at the Seawell Grand Ballroom at The Denver Center for Performing Arts. Presented by the Sales & Marketing Council and HBA of Metro Denver, the Marketing and Merchandising Excellence (MAME) Awards honor the highest standard of excellence in Denver’s homebuilding industry. KTI contends for the top prize in each of the six different Interior Merchandising categories, along with being among the finalists in Best Interior Design of a Custom Home; Custom Home of the Year; Best Outdoor Living; Design Series of the Year; and Detached Home of the Year.   Having our team’s creative prowess and hard work recognized by these nominations and other industry awards has become a way for the team at KTI to assess our own work and evaluate our responses to client objectives and market trends. As we continually search for new materials, interesting choices and unusual combinations to create the magic in our designs, through awards submissions we take a critical look at our accomplishments beyond our own standards to those of our contemporaries in design as well. Reflecting creatively on the possibilities we faced on each project while developing the submission is a great way to capture the history of Kimberly Timmons Interiors as it unfolds. Our staff takes pride in dissecting each project’s challenges and selecting the best imagines to tell the story.   In the moment before each award is announced there is a calm,...

Black and White – Classic Combinations Never Go Out of Style

Black and White – Classic Combinations Never Go Out of Style

Somethings are simply meant to go together – black and white, wine and cheese, business and pleasure, and success and celebration. Kimberly Timmons Interiors was delighted to be a premier sponsor of Colorado Homes & Lifestyles Redesign Debut Bash and joined many from Colorado’s amazing home design industry in enjoying all of the above on Tuesday January 12th. Beginning with an always elegant theme – Black and White attire, there is nothing like style to add instant flare to any evening. Giving such a simple, timeless ensemble color pallete to a group of interior designers, architects, vendors and other creatives is always beautiful.   Way beyond Wine and Cheese, Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group presented seafood classics of shrimp and crab cakes combined with an eclectic mix of international comfort foods such as grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters, pot stickers, and empanadas. Dessert tables featured delicate custard and berry tarts and chocolate cups filled with cream and topped with a coffee bean crunch. The room came to life under the spell of the signature drink “Colorado Palomas & Lifestyles” a swirling mix of grapefruit juice, lime juice and soda mixed with either vodka or tequila. Of course, style and sustenance are clearly accompanied by good times with old friends and new. It’s always such a treat to see so many colleagues, contemporaries, and counterparts in design at such gatherings, making it so easy to mix Business and Pleasure. With many luminaries of the local design industry among the more than 250 people in attendance there were new and interesting acquaintances at every turn. And of course a good party becomes...
